Elections in the USA

"Politicians are like diapers. They both need changing regularly and for the same reason..."
Probably I'll not have to mention the reasons why most of the politicians need changing after a while. Today,Tuesday, November 7th, the USA is voting for those who tomorrow will make the rulls of the country.
It seems like the first elections mentioned in American history are dated: year 1634.Wow, quite a while for elections and of course many things changed since then.
It was interesting to see that Americans vote on Tuesday, before/after going to work. Hm, no time to waiste for a "special day". Maybe You will ask why Tuesday and not Wednesday? Why in November and not September?
For much of its history, America was a predominantly agrarian society. Law makers therefore took into account that November was perhaps the most convenient month for farmers and rural workers to be able to travel to the polls.Since most residents of rural America had to travel a significant distance to the county seat in order to vote, Monday was not considered reasonable since many people would need to begin travel on Sunday. This would, of course, have conflicted with Church services and Sunday worship.
Americans take very serious their right to vote and the media doesn't have to remind them to go and vote.
Still, it looks like the politians are the same all over the World. You see them every 4 years (only before elections). They come on the TV and make promisses. A new thing I have seen here is negative advertising. Candidates will have clips with their good actions and also they will pay for negative video clips of their competitors. You will hear negative facts on people that are running for a political job.The law limits the time and things which can be said in media on elections. The campaing is not as agressive here as it is in Romania or some other Eastern countries.
Hm, all looks good but something smells bad. Diapers or...politians? :)
Go vote!
