A cleaner Romania.I love it.

"Let everyone sweep in front of his own door and the whole World will be clean"

Goethe

Crowded, dirty and slow train takes us to the mountains. Lots o tourists got in a fully packed train and left Bucharest at 6,15am on Saturday morning, November the 3rd.
After an “exciting” ride we made it to Busteni where we met Liviu and his friends. He was one of the main planners of the cleaning experience. Also, in the train station we met another 20 people who were ready to make Romania a cleaner place.
All together we were probably 40 young people ages 14 up to 35 or so. Some never met before but we acquainted immediately. First few hours we spent picking up the trash left near the lift (cabin). It was fun and easy. An interesting fact surprised me: the entire group had a very positive attitude. Nobody was complaining or expecting anything. I realized that people that complain or are negativists would not be there and do what we were doing. After first couple of hours we had over 45 plastic bags full of trash: personal hygiene items, plastic and packages, light bulbs, cans, cigarettes, dog food bags and many other things you don’t want to know about.

Some other facts:
We invited some tourists to join our efforts. Some were laughing but there were several of them who helped us. We wanted them to realize that it’s not “our trash” but “everybody’s trash”
In the afternoon the team cleaned up the path to Urlatoarea waterfall. There was even more trash.
By the end of the day we had couple hundred of plastic bags full of trash (!!!!!)

Even I’ve done this kind of activity before, I enjoyed this experience so much! It’s an unusual feeling when you are picking up trash and the excitement you feel when you see a clean forest, a more beautiful mountain, a real waterfall…
People are consumers. People are trash makers. People are selfish but we have to share the Earth and its beauty. It doesn’t belong to You or me. It’s ours and of those who will follow us.
Keep it clean.With Pride.
