The End of ...2006

"Miracles come in moments. Be ready and willing" Wayne Dyer
I hope you all are ready for January 1st, 2007. A miracle is going to happen: Romania will join European Union. Starting with tomorrow, Romania will be part of European Union. This means: from tomorrow on Romania will have thousands of kilometers of highway, outhouses(backhouse toilets) will be almost impossible to find because there will be only indoor plubming, there will be no homeless dogs and no more coruption. All the Romanians will become honest, hard working and just better...
Oops! I think I am dreaming...
Let me get back on Earth where miracles come on very rare ocasions.
Happy New Year 2007 to You& may many miracles come into Your life!

Who is Merry Xmas?

“Christmas began in the heart of God. It is complete only when it reaches the heart of man...”
Today, we, Christians celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ. It happend a long time ago but Jesus had a great impact on many lives during history. He still has. It's just up to each of us.
I love Christmas because it's a family time, a time of joy for many, a peacefull time. Most of all, I am happy we remember every year that Christ was born. He was born for me. He was born for you.
Merry Christmas!

ps. Who is Merry Xmas? It's ...Santa's wife! :)

Japanese food

"I love cats... they taste just like chicken." Bumper sticker
Just got back from Fuji Hava (Steak& Sushi). Nice Japanese restaurant where I was invited for somebody's birthday.
As soon as you walk in, you're in Japan: interior, waiters, tables and decorations.
The most interesting thing was food preparation. We set behind a "U" shape table. Inside the "U" was a cooking metal table. The Chef came and prepared all our meal right there, in fron of us. First, he did few tricks with the knifes, spatulas and eggs. Surprisingly haven't broke anything and haven't killed anybody. He was good.
The he prepared the fried rice& vegetables, chiken, steak, shimp. All in front of us.
It was amasing: he knew what he was doing.
I had a bowl of Japanese soup( which was pretty good), a salat and chiken teryaki. The meal was great. My chiken really tasted like chiken so I am sure I had chiken and not...cat. At least I hope.
Enjoy your meal!

Romanian troups in Afganistan

"Without courage all virtues lose their meaning” Winston Churchill
Today one of the brothers of an American friend of mine came back from war. He spent almost 1 year in Afganistan. Interesting and taff kid. Brave and smart.
Along with many subjects we got to talk about other forces which are in Afganistan, except the US: Germans, Koreeans, Romanians etc It seems like Romania has a pretty good number of soldiers there. Do you know what did he said about Romanian soldiers?
Bad things:
- the Romanians seems way too relaxed. The act like they don't realize there is war going on.
- lack of military discipline and low profesional attitude. You could see Romanians walking around the base in the army pants, white t-shirts and dragging the AK-47 behind them. Few times, they kept the music too loud when we were in full alert. The higher ranks are more disciplined.
Good things:
- even the Romanians have older weapons, their stuff works great.Very accurate and precise. Their trucks, jeeps and vehicles( made in Romania) are excellent. When needed, they will go 24 hrs without a stop.
- Romanians are very couragous. Brave and dedicated soldiers.
He said: " Anytime I'll join Romanian soldiers. They have no fear and in a combat I would lay down my life for them, just like they will lay down their life for me...".
Wow! What a statement. No more coments.

Punctuality is...

“Punctuality is the soul of business” Thomas C. Haliburton
One of the things I saw and learned from and in USA is that 5 minutes= 300 seconds and not... 600, 900 or 1.200 seconds.
Kids are tought punctuality when in the mornings they have to wait for the school bus. Interesting enought, the bus doesn't wait. When kids are picked up from the school, there is "car pull"- where all the parents come at an exact time and line up. You see all the cars lined up in front of the school, ready to pick up their kids.
Time has a very well defined identity here, in the USA. Little kids learn that time is money, respect. No business can be done if you are late. Things move too fast.
I am amaised how well organized and weel thought is life style here. Is punctuality related to the succes of the USA? You tell me. I'll be here 5 more minutes, I mean 300 seconds. See You!
